Tech pros and companies honored in two major City/State awards
During the past two weeks, two major awards programs announced honorees for their 2020 rosters of high-achieving Indianapolis area professionals under the age of 40 and the best places to work in Indiana. TechPoint Index readers won’t be surprised to learn that large percentages of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” rising stars and Indiana Chamber’s “Best Places to Work” are well-known in the tech community.
Many of the honorees in both awards programs are also 2020 TechPoint Mira Award nominees vying for the title of ‘Best of Tech in Indiana’ in 12 different people, place, products and companies categories. This year’s nominees and winners will be honored at the Mira Awards gala on April 18.

Indiana Chamber of Commerce: Best Places to Work in Indiana
Out of the 125 small to medium and large to major companies named to the 2020 ‘Best Places to Work in Indiana’ list, 40 total (or 32%) are tech or tech-enabled companies, many of which are companies that have also appeared on the Inc. 5000 ‘Fastest Growing Companies in America’ list.
Indiana Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Brinegar said the chamber continues, “to be impressed with the quality of employers, their strong workplace cultures and best practices they have in place that both strengthen the company and the employer-employee relationship.”
To determine the ‘Best Places to Work in Indiana’, companies from across the state entered a two-part survey process. The first aspect consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and accounted for some 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
