The return of Sales Bootcamp helps Hoosiers break into tech
TechPoint’s Sales Bootcamp has done it again. The popular career prep program has helped a new class of recent graduates and career changers find their place in the challenging and lucrative business of tech sales.
Having gone on hiatus in early 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, Sales Bootcamp made its return last month with a small cohort that experienced three micro-internships with the sales teams of central Indiana tech companies. Participants also received professional sales training with Matt Nettleton, managing partner of Sandler Training.
The three host companies, OneCause, BlackInk IT, and Covideo, gave the participants experience, guidance, and even job opportunities for a number of them upon the program’s conclusion.
“This cohort was fantastic in every way. Each of them was eager to learn, coachable and worked extremely hard,” said Glenn Jones, outbound manager with Covideo. “Being a host allows us to meet and evaluate talent in a more hands-on way to assess not only a candidate’s ability to perform on the job, but also how they would mesh with our company culture.”
Jones and the Covideo team were so impressed with Sales Bootcamp participant Shai Bell that they offered to bring her, and one of Bell’s fellow participants, on full-time.
“As a sales development representative, I’m excited to go in each day and try my best because I know the positive results will be there if I do,” said Bell. “I also look forward to being a sponge, listening in on more info about the software and anything Covideo related.”
Bell went on to explain how much she enjoyed getting to experience the range of companies Indiana’s tech ecosystem holds. “I knew there were many types of tech companies, but I honestly didn’t know which was the best fit for me. Each company exposed me to what I valued. In the end, I had a vision of what I valued in a prospective company.”
“After two years away, our team was so excited to bring Sales Bootcamp back to our tech community,” said Dennis Trinkle, TechPoint executive vice president, talent pathways and programs. “The participants and host companies had great experiences, and we’re excited to see our participants securing full-time job opportunities right here in central Indiana.”
