WISH-TV’s Eric Halvorson reported on TechPoint’s League of Extraordinary Programmers event on Friday evening at the height of Gen Con, the original, longest-running, best-attended, gaming convention in the world!

Gen Con attendees are also some of the world’s top tech talent, so TechPoint took the chance while they were in town to introduce them to Indy’s tech scene. Salesforce, Interactive Intelligence, TinderBox, SmarterHQ, Angie’s List, Apparatus, Teradata, hc1.com, and NextGear Capital all pitched in to help turn D’Amore Events on top of Chase Tower at Monument Circle into a showcase of local technologies and tech builders.

As Halvorson reports in his story, the League of Extraordinary Programmers event attracted more than 200 registered tech builders and software developers from 21 states, as far away as California and Washington.

Gen Con is about fun, after all. The convention attracts game enthusiasts from all over the country. They’re here to play board games or card games or video games.

But somebody must design those games. And that’s why more than 200 game developers and engineers attended the event with the droid and the fish. The Techpoint organization of Indianapolis called it the League of Extraordinary Programmers.

Techpoint promotes the technology industry in Indiana. It exists to help the industry grow.
